About
Elena Valimberti is a multi-disciplinary artist, focusing in recent years on depicting the figure in paintings. Valimberti uses oil paint to convey texture and the sensation of touch with the use of painted layers, important to describing depth and subject matter. Ambiguity is emphasised, drawing attention to the viewer’s interpretation and imaginative faculty, in compositions reminiscent of a cinematic quality.
Valimberti’s earlier works experimented with three dimensional form, installation, as well as the use of medium in oil paintings to give the impression of watercolour with the surface appearance of glass.
